PARISH OF ST. MARY'S, RHUDDLAN
VICAR & CHURCHWARDENS' APPEAL 2010
Dear Parishioners,
The major programme of restoration at St. Mary's Parish Church is reaching a conclusion. It has been a long and torturous road since we set out in the late 1990s to celebrate our 700th. Anniversary in 2001! After much preparation we were ready to begin in 2009. We engaged a well-established company with a wealth of experience on church restoration work but one month into the project the company went into receivership. Time was then lost due to the need for retendering for the contract and exceptionally bad weather conditions. Throughout the whole process CADW has given us no financial assistance as it regards our Parish Church as " ... of insignificant historical or archaeological interest", and yet has tried to insist that we use our Heritage Lottery Fund grant towards the project to cover the building with seven coats of lime wash. In the opinion of our Parochial Church Council such an action would have left us with a parish church totalling out of keeping with its local environment.
The people of Rhuddlan have supported us wholeheartedly in our fight, for which we have been very grateful. Now is your opportunity to add your financial support. When we have paid our contribution to the cost of the work our 'savings for a rainy day' will have been almost used up. Renovating St. Mary's has not been about restoring the past but providing the people of Rhuddlan with its Parish Church for the future. Will you please help us in this task?
All contributions will be very gratefully received and you will be making a contribution to Rhuddlan's future.
Your envelope can be - Brought to church : Given to someone coming to church:

GOLFERS IN CHURCH
It was good to welcome the members of Rhuddlan Golf Club to St. Mary’s Parish Church for their annual service on 21st. March. The lessons were read by the two captains, Mr. Glyn Jones and Miss. Clare Sheldon, with Mr. Wynford Davies playing the organ. The service was conducted by the Vicar, who is the Club Chaplain.
Afterwards a quiz at the clubhouse was enjoyed by all. The Chaplain presented Mr. Captain with a cheque for £50 (from the collection) for his charity fund).
